Before starting
this lesson, we review the first lesson.
In the first lesson, we explained how to sign in to start the Windows 10 and how to shut
down. In this lesson we will tell you about the main features and interface of
Windows 10, which new features have been added.
Microsoft has
introduced all new capabilities and new experiences in Windows 10. Ever since
Windows 10 was launched, Microsoft started inviting people and its users from
that very day so that more and more people can keep, choose and love Windows
10. Similarly, in 200 countries of Windows 10, about one billion people are
active users of Windows 10.
Main Features of Windows 10
Among the
features that Microsoft has put in Windows 10, the following are the main advance
features.
- Start Menu
- Microsoft Edge Browser
- Task View Timeline
- Talk to Cortana
- New Universal Apps
1. Start Menu
As you have been
using the Start menu in previous versions of Windows. Microsoft has brought an
advanced feature in the Windows 10 about Start Menu that you will be able to
benefit from this post. If you look at the front screen of the computer, you
will see a Windows start button on the left side, which we call the Start Menu
Button. From this we want to run the program or shut down the computer or go to
the Windows settings. So use this start button. You can see the picture below.
This start menu has three types of tabs that you can see above, one is the
Start Tools tab, it has five types of buttons that you can do different things.
Next we will tell you all in depth. The second tab is Programs, which includes
Windows by defaults and other software we install. All are visible here. And
the third tab is Windows Apps or Programs. In which you can add the shortcut of
any program you want here. And at the same time, you can drag and resize the
start menu as you like.

2. Microsoft Edge Browser
Microsoft has made many changes to the Edge browser aimed at bringing it closer to Chrome and Mozilla. Earlier in Windows 8 and Windows 7 it was named as Internet Explorer but in Windows 10 it was renamed from Internet Explorer to Microsoft Edge Browser. The Microsoft Edge browser has a new rendering engine built into it called Edge HTML. It also integrates Cortana, a digital assistant that provides voice control, search and personal information to users.
- Advance Search
- Discover
- Tools
- Games
- Microsoft Office
- Outlook
3. Task View Timeline
Microsoft has built a strong Task View system in Windows 10 that helps you switch between running apps with Windows and provides a multi-app, multi-tasking experience. You can also work on the virtual desktop in the task view by going to the timeline history on the right side and working on these apps again. This timeline shows the entire month's history. Which we can go to this history and open the apps of a month ago.
While you are working on anything in Windows, you can jump to another program at any time through the task view. And with this you can open a month old file from the timeline.
4. Talk to Cortana
Cortana is used as a digital assistant in Windows 10 working with Bing search engine. Cortana helps you to access information faster and connect with people faster and save your time. It can place the Team Windows app in Windows taskbar on the desktop to coordinate your favorite tasks. You must have a Microsoft account to work in Cortana.
How to Use Cortana?
Cortana is very
easy to use, you need to have a Microsoft account to use it, here are some
steps, follow them and you will be able to use Cortana.
To more information about Microsoft Account, you can review our post on “How to Create a Microsoft Account?”
1. First of all, after opening Cortana, click on the three dots on the top left side and click on Settings to sign in with your Microsoft account. See in the picture below.
3. Now, you ask with Cortana
5. New Universal Apps
Microsoft has
created a new system of software called Universal Apps, a code base that allows
you to adapt its interface to the existing computer in your hand. Microsoft has
also created a bundle of apps that include photos, videos, music, maps, people,
mail, and calendar. Their functions have been are the same whether you're doing
it on a computer, tablets or phone. There are also many universal apps, and
these apps work on multiple types of Windows devices, for example computers,
phones, tablets, etc.
Microsoft has made it possible to store
content through its cloud service One-drive, or you can start the same work you
are working on by going to another device where you closed the work.
